A coaching scholarship established in Maria Berry's name is intended to help more women and gender-diverse people take the next step in football. Women Onside announced the programme with Football Coaches Australia and Melbourne Victory in February 2026.
Berry spent more than four decades in the game as a player, coach, administrator and advocate. She co-founded Women Onside and had a long association with Victory and its supporters.
The announced programme provides one major scholarship and four development scholarships each year, with at least $7,000 in annual financial support. Coaching courses, conferences and other professional development are among the expenses it can help cover.
Victory also committed to a coaching internship for the major scholarship recipient. Mentoring and professional connections form part of the support, alongside the funding.
